Aron's Story
My political views on migration may vary from others in the Australian community as it is very abstract and hard to explain through words alone. My opinion has been heavily influenced by the reasons my parents have come to Australia from the Philippines as that story has helped me shape my view on the migration debate.
In my opinion migration is something that should not be looked down upon, whether or not a person of a different ethnicity is coming onto another foreign land is not a factor that can affect the situation. Migration is something that should be on the government's priority list to make right as it is most of the time very important to people that are coming from foreign countries. The amount of people that have to move countries due to certain circumstances are incredible, and these laws that are not allowing these people to move countries should be abolished as it is something that people need to survive.
Personally, I am of Philippine origin and my parents are both full filipinos hailing from Manila and Baguio City. They are now residing in western sydney NSW in Australia. They have moved here through migration and have spent a long time having problems with the system to get into Australia. To them, Australia was like a safe haven, they had to flee the country that they had grown up in and had many fond memories of in fear of their own lives being in jeopardy. Through migration they had the opportunity to move to a safer country with more opportunities and a better lifestyle. At the time they were planning of having their first child as they were of age at 32. Australia would be the model place to raise their children as the environment of the Australian community provided a much more safer and brighter environment then philippines provided at the time as it was much less advanced as a country.
Through migration i have been able to live a much more happy and peaceful life in Australia than in Philippines and for that i am grateful that the law has allowed my parents to move from the philippines to Australia. For this experience it has shaped my opinion on migration as through the sole purpose of migration i have been able to have a much more sustainable life and i do believe that there are others out there that were like my parents and are at a dead end in their lives due to the laws that they have to abide to in their own country and through the people that are trying to stop the boats they are having a exceptionally hard time moving from the country. This reason of Patriotism and pride in one's country should be put away and bottled up for it is that very pride that is breaking other families and destroying lives.
